The passionate relationship of the people of Freiburg with literature is clear to see wherever you go: Here at the literature hotel Park Hotel Post, at the university, in the many bookshops and at many events focusing on books. All year long the culture office and the literature office offer literary talk shows lasting several days: here you can enjoy readings, writing workshops and discussions. Freiburg has its own “Literaturhaus”. And what is probably just as distinctive is the variety of music on offer in Freiburg. There is the Music College and in the old town there are street musicians playing. From jazz to classical there is something for everyone, whether in dimly lit bars and cellars, at a jazz house or at a concert hall, in the Historisches Kaufhaus, in the trade show area or in some of the many churches. Every year in summer, the cult Tent Music Festival (Zelt-Musik-Festival) is held with a colourful mixture of theatre, art, sport and a lot of music.
